ABOUT A.B.O.V.E.

The Advancing Business Opportunities Ventures & Enterprises (ABOVE) is a core WEOP program.  In line with the mission of the organization, WEOP believes that business ownership and entrepreneurship are viable strategies for building economic wealth for families.     

WEOP’s ABOVE program focuses on specialized programming and projects to educate and empower women seeking to build, grow or expand business enterprises.  Ongoing activities support women owned small businesses (WOSB’s), Independent Contractors, Solo-preneurs, Subcontractors, Freelancers and Consultants. 

ABOVE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES GOALS 

  • Connect business women to contract and business opportunities. 
  • Provide knowledge required to navigate sub and prime contract opportunities in federal sector. 
  • Build relationships with strategic partners to connect women to opportunities 
  • Collect data and gather feedback from business women.  
  • Amplify the voices of women and create awareness through social media, articles, blog and television. 

ABOUT THE CRA

We have crafted a great tool that guides you through specific questions to determine your knowledge of federal contracting. There is no right or wrong answers to the questions, the tool will provide you with insightful information and pro tips that are customized just for you!

WEOP’s Approach: 

  • Provide the community with an ongoing calendar of events, specialized classes, educational workshops to increase competitive business knowledge.   
  • Conduct community town hall meetings and focus groups to provide a platform for women to discuss and share challenges.  
  • Increase the number of women pursuing prime and subcontract opportunities to increase business revenue.  
  • Engage with Contracting Officers and Supplier Diversity professionals to provide access and connections to potential prime and subcontract opportunities.  
  • Connect with strategic partners to expand an ecosystem of support to keep women connected to a network or resources, opportunities to support business advancement and growth.  
  • Launch “On Track” is a unique specialized “technical assistance” professional development program that provides the opportunity for business owners to receive business advice from key business industry professionals.
