WHY Civic Engagement

WEOP is intentionally investing in the next generation of women leaders equipping them with the tools, networks, and influence necessary to drive systemic change, shape policies, and create meaningful, long-term impact.

Empowering Women to Lead

Civic engagement is a foundational pillar of WEOP’s mission because lasting change requires women not only to participate but to lead. We are empowering a generation of women leaders to support and strengthen women across nonprofit organizations, businesses, and community institutions, while amplifying their voices at both local and national levels. WEOP champions women assuming leadership roles at every level, including executive leadership, corporate decision-making, and public policy development. As a trusted leader in our community, we help women understand their power and how policy impacts their lives and livelihoods. Together, we are building the next generation of women leaders driving systemic change.

Strategic Partnerships

WEOP leverages strategic partnerships with national and local organizations, along with advocacy leaders, to bring expertise, insight, and education directly to our community. The goal is to raise awareness and equip entrepreneurs and business owners with a deeper understanding of the critical issues that impact their businesses. We help women recognize the importance of civic engagement and how it impacts their businesses. Through annual town halls and ongoing engagement, we amplify their voices across blogs, social media, traditional media, and public forums, ensuring they are heard where decisions are made and policies are shaped.

WEOP’s current partners include:

  • Small Business Majority
  • Kim Schofield, Georgia House of Representatives
  • Our Village United
  • Center for Asian Pacific American Women

Amplifying Our Voices at the State Capitol

Special thanks to Georgia House or Representative Kim Schofield, the WEOP team had the opportunity to present before the Small Business Committee at the Georgia State Capitol. Representing WEOP was Antionette Ball, Chief Executive Director, alongside women-owned business leaders including Motez Diamond of Indou Group and Shene Commodore of Commodore Consulting. Together, we amplified the voices of women entrepreneurs, sharing insights on contracting opportunities, highlighting WEOP’s mission and impact, and offering firsthand perspectives on the barriers and opportunities facing women- and minority-owned businesses.

Leadership Roundtables: Georgia State Capitol

WEOP’s event calendar includes annual convenings at the Georgia State Capitol, conducted in partnership with organizations such as Small Business Majority. Through these convenings, WEOP educates and builds awareness around how policy impacts businesses, how to engage effectively, and how to think beyond day-to-day operations. In recognition for work and leadership, WEOP has received four consecutive proclamations from the Georgia House of Representatives, honoring its impact on behalf of minority- and women-owned businesses during Women’s History Month.
